Postpartum Sitz Baths
Between ticking things off the baby list and packing for their hospital bags, many expecting mamas forget to make a plan for their postpartum recovery. For mamas planning to have a vaginal birth, postpartum sitz baths are a must-have. They help alleviate pain and encourage healing of the perineal area.
Our Dew & Lily postpartum sitz baths are made from a combination of herbs, salts and essential oils.
When are they used?
Postpartum Sitz Baths are used by women after vaginal childbirth.
What do they do?
– Promote healing of perineal tears;
– Soothe the perineal area;
– Improve blood flow to the perineal area;
– Reduce swelling and inflammation;
– Soothe tender tissue;
– Provide pain relief;
– Help cleanse the perineal area;
– Reduce haemorrhoids; and
– Help the new mama relax.
How are they used?
Scoop half a cup of the sitz bath mix into the muslin drawstring bag.
Place the bag into your bathtub, pour warm to hot water (a temperature that you can bear, do not make it too hot). Allow the sitz bath mixture to steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
Soak and relax in the tub for 20 to 30 minutes.
If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Soaking in a bath is not recommended after a cesarean section.
